Insights to Preserve Vision

ExOcular Dx is developing a portfolio of multiplex tests to help manage severe eye diseases.

Diabetic Retinopathy

DR

Diabetics frequently face eye complications like glaucoma, cataracts, and neuropathies, with diabetic retinopathy (DR) being the most common. DR is the leading cause of blindness for Americans aged 25-74. About 9.6M people, or 26% of those with diabetes, are affected by diabetic retinopathy.

AMD

Age-Related Macular Degeneration

The macula is crucial for central vision and detail recognition. Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a progressive retinal disease influenced by genetic and environmental factors. It is a leading cause of irreversible blindness in people over 60, with 10 to 15% of cases resulting in sudden, severe central vision loss.

A Needed Tool

No laboratory tests are available to manage severe eye disease

ExOcular will transform how physicians assess eye health. Current imaging tools lack precision in quantifying progression risk. Primary care physicians require reliable data—specifically a Disease Severity Score—to encourage patients to see ophthalmologists sooner. Ophthalmologists will benefit from a dependable method to evaluate disease stage, risk-stratify patients, and optimize treatment frequency. Once treatment starts, ExOcular tests will help ophthalmologists tailor treatment plans and interventions more effectively, ensuring that patients receive the appropriate care based on their individual needs and risk level.
